All,

I may not have been patient enough to wait for another few weeks.
Does the processing time that USCIS posts apply to most people?

My case is

Category: EB3 ROW
Priority Date: April 2009
I-485 filed: 13 September, 2013
Biometrics: 24 October, 2013
Filed at Texas Service Center.

Texas Service Center's I-485 processing is 4 months as of 31 Oct, 2013.
I was expecting the approval by now, but the GC tracker seems to indicate many people are waiting much longer.

Are there any realistic ways to estimate when the case is up for approval?

Yeah, 4 months is the average processing time. If you look at the tracker, some cases are completed in 2 months, whereas others are pending for more than 1 year.

I filed 9/6/13, fingerprinting done on 10/1/13.
also TSC, and no GC yet until now.
I contacted USCIS and I got an email 10 days after saying my case is pending and to contact them if there is no activity after 6 months.
Heartbreak.

I have received the approval notice on February 18th.
It took me about 5 months; a month longer than the USCIS estimate, but was not a long wait.

Myself, my wife, and my daughter received our permanent residency visas ("green cards") in the mail today (February 24, 2014) [smile].

Our I-485 adjustment of status applications were filed at the Texas Service Center (TSC) with a receipt date of October 17, 2013. I received the USCIS case status update (e-mail notification) of approval and card production on February 14. So our processing and approval was almost exactly 4 months (in accordance with the published process times).

I would have posted this information last week, but I wanted to wait until we physically received our actual "green cards" so not to 'jinx' anything. After soooo long, a little superstition and caution are not bad things.

I filed on 2/14 and got the receipt a week ago. The processing time for Texas is 4.9 months according to the website.

For people who files in October (when it was a 4 months processing), don't forget to account for the holidays (Xmas) and weather delays (shut down of some offices, even though that may not apply to Texas).

Anyways, I hope to get it by July :-)

I just checked my USCIS application dashboard for my I485 filing. It says: "Effective as of: January 31, 2014: Texas Service Center processing time - 5.9 Month(s)"

5.9 monts, I assume, is an average. As Amazon have mentioned, for some processing might take 6 months or more. For some (including myself) the process took just a little bit over 3 months. I saw cases being approved in as little as 2 and even 1 month on trackitt.com. With this being said, your time might come sooner than you expected. Good luck!
