Hi,
My parents have a valid B1/B2 visa expiring in Dec-2013. Can they apply for a new B1/B2 visa 2 months before the current one expires ? They are in India and will go to US consulate in India.
Thanks!
Yes, they can renew it before it expires. There are more details here in Lima Embassy page:

The validity period for a B-1/B-2 visa is typically 10 years, but can vary depending on individual circumstances. As such, it is recommended that you check the expiration date of your visa prior to applying for a renewal.

Yes, your parents can apply for a new B1/B2 visa before their current visa expires. U.S. consulates generally recommend applying for a new visa at least six months before the current one expires, but applying two months before is also acceptable.
Here are some key points to consider:
Early Renewal: Applying early is usually fine. The U.S. Department of State allows visa renewals well in advance of the expiration date.
Application Process: They will need to complete the DS-160 form, pay the visa fee, schedule an appointment at the U.S. consulate in India, and attend the visa interview.
Documentation: They should prepare and bring necessary documents, including their current visa, passport, proof of ties to India, and any other documents required by the consulate.
Visa Validity: If the new visa is granted, it will typically come with a new expiration date, which is not necessarily tied to the expiration of the old visa.
